Almost full body coverage from the front with a high flat neck gives protection. For swimming it limits water flushes that slow you and create drag. For surfing, lying on the board and paddling, you get good protection too.

The shoulder straps are a moderate size so not too fine as to bite and not so thick as to constrain. The rear back is open with the straps fitting between the shoulder blades. In this way the straps won’t interfere and you get maximum performance.
